Strategic Plan

This plan serves as a strategic compass for the next five years and beyond. It is designed to be actionable, inspirational and accessible to all constituents of the Circle Camps community.

These four statements of strategic intent provide the framework for the plan. They indicate the aspirations of Circle Camps, and the next steps in our evolution.

  1. Circle Camps’ Brand Promise: We will clarify our mission and brand to align with who we serve and why.
    1. Branding: Our brand will codify the values and attributes that Circle Camps exemplifies. This will include clarifying and aligning the following:
      1. The Circle Camps Name
      2. The Circle Camps Mission
      3. The Circle Camps Camper Profile
      4. The Circle Camps Experience Summary and Outcomes
    2. Telling the Circle Camps Story: We will develop a communication plan for each program constituent that consistently and effectively tells the Circle Camps Story.
  2. Circle Camps’ Impact in the Field of Grief: We will expand the reach of the Circle Camps program model.
    1. Growth Models: We will increase the number of campers served in a sustainable manner without compromising the quality of the Circle Camps program. We will examine the following strategic growth options:
      1. Expanding Camp Rentals
      2. Expanding Growth Opportunities at Current Camps
      3. Partnership Opportunities
      4. Purchasing a Camp
    2. Expanding our Role in the Field of Grief: We will increase the visibility and reach of the Circle Camps mission outside of a summer camp model.
      1. Examine Year-Round Grief Center Program.
  3. Strategically-Aligned Philanthropy: We will align Circle Camps’ fundraising with our strategic priorities through the following:
    1. Diversify and Expand: We will diversify and expand our funding sources.
    2. Organizational Alignment: We will create a staffing model and budget to support fundraising priorities.
  4. Operational Excellence: We will clearly define the Circle Camps’ standards of operational excellence and will incorporate them across our internal systems.
    1. High Program Standards: We will align our program purpose with the Circle Camps mission.
    2. Strategic Organizational Structure: We will have an on-going and execute a succession plan and align our organizational and governance structure to support the strategic priorities.
    3. Five-Year Budget Projections: We will create a budget projection through 2023.
